Ice stock centers in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh have now joined the four states in the country which have the infrastructure to practice ice stock, a popular sport in Winter Olympics. Giving this information to reporters here on Monday, President of the Ice stock Association, UP unit, Syed Rafat Zubair said that the sport has now been included in the list of ‘Khelo India’ games. He said that the state government has decided to set up training centres for ice stock in Lucknow and Agra.

He said that currently UP ice stock players have to visit Jammu and Kashmir to undertake training, but soon they would start getting the same facility in the state. He said that they have recently purchased stocks that are used in summers from Germany. Rafat said that the association would organize a state-level summer ice stock tourney to select players for the national championships.

He said that it is a matter of great pride for the state that Aariz Hassan of UP led the Indian side in the world ice stock championships in February Besides, UP players have won several medals in the Khelo India winter championships, he added. Chairman of the association Mr. Sarvesh Goel said that he would try his best to promote ice stock in the state. He also felicitated Aariz Hassan on the occasion. Secretary of the association Kiran Kashyap that now the sports have been included both in the summers and winter games.
