Art lovers and admirers of the majestic ghats of Varanasi have an opportunity to get a glimpse of the temple town from the eye of a painter.

Artist Pravin Patel, who hails from Varanasi, has come up with a series of paintings of the ancient city, showcasing the colourful skyline, ghats and life of the city. Curated by Rajesh Kumar, the exhibition Avikmukt was inaugurated by architect and painter Vandana Sehgal on Monday.

“I have put up 63 paintings —the acrylic ones have been done on canvas while the watercolour ones have been painted on art paper,” says Patel, who has displayed his paintings in different cities and in Bangladesh as well.

“Patel’s work is a labour of love that aims to delight the senses of art lovers and immerse them in a visual adventure,” says organiser Neha Singh, founder of Florescence Art Gallery.

The paintings are on display at The Centrum till August 16.
