Abhivyakti: A Soulful Celebration of Art and Expression at The Centrum, Lucknow

In a graceful convergence of creativity and introspection, The Centrum, Lucknow’s landmark in luxury and culture, played host to a captivating group art exhibition titled ‘Abhivyakti’ from March 23 to April 6, 2025. Organized in collaboration with Synapse International Art Gallery, the exhibition was curated by the renowned artist Hina Bhatt and showcased the works of 12 contemporary artists from Vadodara, Gujarat.
The name Abhivyakti, meaning “expression,” perfectly encapsulated the theme — a vibrant tapestry of thoughts, emotions, and inner reflections captured through 41 stunning artworks, each uniquely rendered in mixed-medium techniques. From the ethereal textures of shellac and natural paints to bold strokes of acrylics, embroidery on canvas, and toned cyanotypes, the diversity of media itself became a metaphor for human complexity.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Smt. Kumkum Roy Choudhury and Minister Asim Arun, joined by notable guests including Ar. Asheesh Shrivastava and entrepreneur Sarvesh Goel, the visionary behind The Centrum. Their presence not only added grace to the occasion but reinforced the importance of integrating art and hospitality to create experiences that are enriching and timeless.
Artists such as Ajay Lakhera, Bakulesh Joshi, Durgaprasad Bandi, Damyanti Debnath, Hindol Brahmbhatt, Kruti Mukherjee, Mukti Chauhan, Nilaoyy Nandi, and Surashree Rabadia brought to life diverse interpretations of identity, perseverance, and human connection. Curator Hina Bhatt contributed works such as Hill Man, The Golden Horse, and Perseverance, each embodying resilience and introspection.
Rakesh Kumar Maurya, Founder-Director of Synapse, eloquently summed up the exhibition’s essence: “Abhivyakti is not merely a presentation of artworks; it is an invitation to embark on a journey of self-exploration, to confront emotions, and reflect on the human experience.”
In true Centrum fashion, the venue’s design — inspired by Lucknow’s architectural heritage — offered a complementary canvas to the artworks. Natural light, subtle textures, and spacious interiors allowed each piece to breathe and speak to its audience, turning the exhibition into a living, dynamic narrative.
With its continued commitment to nurturing art, culture, and talent, The Centrum once again affirmed its place as the best hotel in Lucknow — not just in comfort and luxury, but as a soulful venue where stories are shared, and creativity finds a home.
