‘Abhivyakti’ Art Exhibition Unfolds Layers of Human Emotion at The Centrum, Lucknow

A unique blend of artistic expression, cultural insight, and emotional depth came to life at The Centrum, Lucknow, through a captivating group art exhibition titled ‘Abhivyakti’. Organised by Synapse Art Gallery, this curated event drew together the works of 12 exceptional artists from Vadodara and beyond, and was inaugurated on March 24th by Smt. Kumkum Roy Chaudhary, Director of Sahyog India Parivar, alongside Asim Arun, Minister of State for Social Welfare (Independent Charge), Government of Uttar Pradesh.
Set against the architectural elegance of The Centrum, the exhibition offered more than just visual aesthetics—it opened a doorway into the intimate, often unseen inner worlds of the artists. Aptly titled Abhivyakti—meaning expression—the exhibition brought together 41 evocative artworks, with techniques ranging from acrylics, natural pigments, embroidery on paper, to mixed media and shellac on burnt wood.
Hina Bhatt, the curator and contributing artist, showcased pieces titled Hill Man, The Golden Horse, Pertinacity, and Perseverance, all in acrylic on canvas. The collection as a whole offered a vibrant palette of thought, emotion, and commentary, inviting viewers to pause, reflect, and connect.

Each piece stood as a unique voice, yet together they wove a collective narrative on human experience—both personal and universal. Some artists, like Durgaprasad Bandi, explored cyanotype techniques, while others, such as Kruti Mukherjee, used watercolours and embroidery to express subtleties of life.
In his remarks, Rakesh Kumar Maurya, Founder-Director of Synapse International Art Gallery, described the exhibition as more than an art show: “It is an invitation to embark on a journey of self-exploration, to confront our own emotions, and to ponder the human condition.”
The artworks have been thoughtfully displayed across The Centrum’s contemporary yet culture-rooted interior spaces, complementing the hotel’s signature architectural philosophy—where design, art, and soul converge. The symbolism was clear: just as The Centrum celebrates tradition through modern interpretation, Abhivyakti gave heritage art forms a contemporary voice.
Visitors from artistic, literary, and cultural circles graced the exhibition, enriching it with thoughtful dialogue and admiration. Esteemed attendees included Rakesh Kumar Maurya, Rajneesh Dubey, Rahul Raj, and Shikha Singh, among others.
The exhibition is open to the public till April 6, inviting locals and tourists alike to immerse themselves in a space where color, thought, and spirit coexist. As viewers walk through these expressive hallways, they are reminded that art, like The Centrum itself, is a celebration of identity, community, and timeless expression.
