Meeting with MLAs who are Ph.D. degree holders and government servants. Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana has said that MLAs should use their special abilities along with regional development and public service for the public interest. They should give the benefit of their experiences to the assembly as well as to the public. In this sequence, he said that ‘on the lines of the best MP’, now it is being considered to elect the ‘best MLA’ in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
He was holding a meeting with the Ph.D. degree holders of the Eighteenth Legislative Assembly and former government servants at Hotel The Centrum on Wednesday. He said that with the changing times, the need for changes in the Vidhan Sabha Rules, 1958 is also being felt. At the time when this rule was made, there has been a lot of differences in the practice of then and now. Therefore, there seems to be a need to amend the rules. After 65 years, work is being done to amend the assembly rules. It is expected that the amended rules can be placed in the house in the first session of the new year. A discussion will also be held on this. Mahana said that for the first time in the Vidhan Sabha, the special session organized for women MLAs was discussed in the entire country including the Lok Sabha. Now we are also sending the booklet published on the special session organized for women members to the women members of all the Legislative Assemblies of the country. Asim Arun, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Social Welfare, who made his debut in politics by taking voluntary retirement from IPS, said that there are problems due to lack of independence. Unchahar’s SP MLA Manoj Pandey said that the new tradition set by the Speaker of the Assembly will definitely bring about a change in the negative attitude towards the legislature. In the meeting, MLAs SP Yadav, Shalabh Mani Tripathi, Ashish Kumar Singh Ashu, Braj Bhushan Rajput, Dr. Pallavi Patel, etc. also expressed their views.
