The Centrum Hotel Hosts Iconic Residency-Themed Photography Exhibition by Anil Risal Singh

In collaboration with Synapse International Art Gallery, The Centrum hosted a solo exhibition titled The Residency—a powerful tribute to the city’s historical epicenter, the British Residency.
Unveiled on June 1st, the exhibition was inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh’s Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak alongside senior IPS officer Nilabja Chaudhary, actor Dr. Anil Rastogi, and several esteemed guests from the academic and artistic communities. The show features around 30 photographs, each offering a unique interpretation of the Residency—its decayed grandeur, forgotten tales, and enduring spirit.
Set within the grand interiors of The Centrum – Best 5 Star Hotel in Lucknow, this showcase goes beyond mere documentation. Singh’s art captures the evocative play of light, shadows, textures, and ruins, echoing the poignant aftermath of the 1857 revolt. His visual narrative stirs emotion and introspection, showing that a camera, much like a paintbrush, can render time and memory into lasting art.
Deputy Chief Minister Pathak remarked, “A photographer is like an artist who paints without brush or canvas—risking much with every shot.” His words reflected the admiration and respect for Singh’s ability to bring historical fragments alive through his frame.
The Centrum’s architectural language—infused with natural elements, jaali designs, and handcrafted details—offered the perfect backdrop for this exhibition. Every corridor and curated corner of the hotel added to the ambiance, enhancing the immersive storytelling experience for visitors.
